Trauma therapy helps you heal from painful experiences, regulate your emotions, and reconnect with the life you want to live.

Trauma can affect every area of life, including your relationships, parenting, emotional well-being, and sense of self. You may find yourself struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, irritability, difficulty trusting others, or feeling stuck in patterns that are difficult to change. Whether you have experienced childhood trauma, relationship trauma, adoption-related trauma, a traumatic event, or chronic stress, therapy can help.

As a trauma therapist and a Certified EMDR therapist, I provide trauma-informed therapy for adults, parents, adolescents, and families. Together, we will work to understand how past experiences continue to impact your present life, develop effective coping skills, and help your nervous system feel safer and more regulated. Using evidence-based approaches including EMDR therapy, attachment-based therapy, and family systems principles, I help clients process traumatic experiences and build healthier relationships with themselves and others.

Healing from trauma is possible. Trauma therapy can help you feel more connected, confident, and able to engage fully in your life and relationships.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an evidence-based treatment that helps people heal from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences. When a traumatic or overwhelming event occurs, the brain may not fully process the experience, leaving memories, emotions, physical sensations, and negative beliefs feeling stuck. These unresolved experiences can continue to impact daily life, relationships, self-esteem, and emotional well-being long after the event has passed.

EMDR therapy helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel as overwhelming or disruptive. During EMDR, clients focus on a memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds. As the brain processes the experience, emotional distress decreases and healthier, more adaptive beliefs emerge. EMDR is widely recognized as an effective treatment for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, childhood trauma, and negative self-beliefs, helping clients feel more regulated, resilient, and connected to the present.

What is an EMDR Certified Therapist?

An EMDR Certified Therapist has completed extensive training and consultation beyond basic EMDR education. Certification through EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) requires advanced coursework, clinical experience using EMDR with clients, ongoing consultation with approved EMDR consultants, and adherence to EMDRIA's professional standards.

Why Should I Use an EMDR Certified Therapist Instead of a Therapist Trained in EMDR?

Working with an EMDR Certified Therapist means you are receiving care from a clinician who has demonstrated additional expertise in using EMDR therapy to treat trauma, anxiety, and other distressing experiences. Certification reflects a commitment to ongoing education and providing high-quality, evidence-based trauma treatment.

Can EMDR Be Used With Children?

Yes. EMDR can be an effective treatment for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, anxiety, grief, adoption-related challenges, bullying, or other stressful life events. With children, EMDR is adapted to be developmentally appropriate and may incorporate play, drawing, storytelling, or other creative activities.

Parents are often an important part of the process, helping children build emotional regulation skills and feel supported as they heal. EMDR can help children process difficult experiences, reduce emotional distress, and develop greater resilience.

I have taken extensive 45 hour EMDR child specialist certificate program through The Agate Institute. This training focused on using EMDR with children in developmentally appropriate ways, incorporating aspects of play therapy, art therapy, and movement to promote healing.
