When children experience big emotions, parents are often told to encourage deep breathing. While breathing can be helpful, it is rarely enough on its own. Children learn emotional regulation through relationships, connection, and experiences that help their nervous systems feel safe.
Join Dr. Olivia Tomfohrde (a licensed family therapist) and Lily Ferreira (a registered play therapist) for a practical workshop designed to help parents better understand emotional regulation and what children need during moments of overwhelm. You'll learn how your own regulation impacts your child's ability to calm down, why co-regulation is such a powerful parenting tool, and how play can be used to strengthen connection, build resilience, and support emotional regulation.
Parents will leave with practical, evidence-informed strategies for responding to anxiety, frustration, meltdowns, and other big emotions. Whether your child struggles with emotional regulation, ADHD, anxiety, or everyday childhood challenges, this workshop will provide tools you can begin using at home right away.
Hosted in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, this workshop is ideal for parents looking for practical parenting support and effective emotional regulation strategies for children.
