I love working with moms and parents. When I started doing therapy I worked primarily with children. Through experience, I found that the most effective way to help create regulated and healthy families was to provide support for the people running them. Let’s be real, that’s often moms. If you want your home to feel calmer, happier, and a place your children will look back on positively, I can help you. If you feel like you’ve given so much of yourself away that you no longer know who you are, I can help you find your way back to feeling whole. Happy families are built by parents who have support.

Therapy for anxiety and stress

If things feel hard for you, you’re not alone. Many people deal with anxiety, and it feels like there is a lot to be anxious about in our world. When you work with me you will have the support you need to understand the root of your anxiety. You will not only learn the skills you need to manage anxiety day to day but develop a deeper understanding of where your anxiety comes from. Understanding and insight are keys to making lasting change.

Therapy for children and families

I’ve worked with children and families in a number of ways and in a bunch of different settings. I’ve taken all my years of working with children and their families and developed a way of “doing therapy” that is focused on family growth. When I’ve worked with children I have found that the most effective way to bring growth and change in their behaviors is through working with their family. Parents can expect to be involved in therapy because their child’s ability to change is directly tied to their interactions with their parents.

Therapy for TrAUMA

All of us are shaped by experiences of our past. We carry these experiences with us into the present for better or worse. Sometimes, the things we have experienced weigh us down. I am an EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) certified therapist. EMDR is an evidenced based treatment for treating trauma. EMDR allows clients to remember their past without feeling like they are reliving it day to day.

Parents with Trauma/ Intergenerational Trauma

For many people, having children brings a lot of your own childhood experiences up to the surface. Many parents have the goal of creating a childhood for their children that is markedly different than their own. I love working with parents who want to feel free from the past and create a new way of being a family that feels safe and regulated, and who want to have healthy relationships with their children. Maybe your home didn’t feel so safe growing up, maybe the adults around you were not dependable, and now you feel held back by your early life. The good news is that you can shape your family’s story into something different.
